Other information

KEY FACTS

This Mercedes-Benz V123 model Limousine is a handsome and lesser-seen classic luxury car, which benefits from some recent cosmetic restoration.
Under the bonnet is now a 2.8-litre 'M110' straight-six, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
While its early history is not known, the car was acquired by a Mercedes collector three years ago, and was subsequently treated to some refurbishment.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

The V123 model Limousine was built over a stretched W123 saloon chassis, resulting in a long-wheelbase of 3,425mm that can seat up to eight people.
It is understood that just 2,888 examples of the 250 LWB model were produced over an eight-year production run.
At some point in the past, the less robust 2.5-litre engine has been swapped for a dependable M110 2.8-litre DOHC straight-six, producing up to 143bhp.
The car is also equipped with power steering.
Equipment includes electric front and rear windows, dual-zone heating and ventilation, a Motorola car phone, and Philips radio cassette player.
In the rear compartment, there are three flip-down rear seats that can form an occasional middle row (for eight seats in total), or left stored to give the rear seat passengers a vast amount of legroom.
Accompanying the car is the Danish registration paperwork, flag holders for the front wings (which are snap-on and easily removable), a chauffeur's cap, and spare wheel and tyre.
CONDITION

There is no known prior accident damage.
Extensive photos of the condition of the underside are shown in the gallery.
Following its acquisition by a Mercedes collector in 2019, this V123 Limousine was treated to an exterior bodywork restoration, which included rust repairs to the floors, with new panels fitted. New front wings, front doors, and a new boot lid were also installed.
The car was then repainted completely at a Mercedes specialist workshop, with minor fettling in the summer of 2020, and it still presents well today. There are some blemishes on the inner door panels, but this is a smart classic.
Inside, the black leather upholstery presents very well for its age. The seller was told that the cabin was previously re-trimmed or restored in Poland at some point in the past, but there is no documentation to support this. Certainly, the condition of the leather and other trim does suggest it may be true though, with some surface creasing and light wear, but no heavy discolouration. The carpets would benefit from a clean, and while the headliner is slightly marked in places, there is no visible sagging.
The seller reports that the automatic gearbox has an oil leak, but that gear shifts are smooth, and there are no untoward noises from either engine, transmission or suspension.
All four tyres are recent Duno SP3000 items, and the brakes are also in good order, pulling the car down to a stop straight and true.
All of the switchgear currently works as it should, and there are no known electrical or mechanical faults.
Its last roadworthiness check was in November 2020 at approximately 348,000 km.
SERVICE HISTORY

The car is fresh from a service carried out in early April 2022 at 359,000 km, when MJ Autoservice carried out a fluid change and also rectified an oil leak.
In recent years, the copper fuel pipe has been replaced, as has the copper pipe for the left rear hydraulic function. Some of the rubber boots around the suspension joints have also been renewed.
A major service was also carried out in December 2020.
SUMMARY

This Mercedes-Benz V123 Limousine is a stylish classic luxury vehicle, which has been used as intended throughout its life, and benefits from some recent bodywork and paint restoration in the care of an enthusiast. With an upgrade to the 2.8-litre M110 straight-six engine, this example offers good performance and a dependable powertrain, and it would be an eye-catching cruiser for weekend jaunts or for showing off at classic car events.
